“Is there a nicer feeling than being in a room full of people
and the dog chooses to sit next to you?
I think not.”

— Unknown

I am tired of the ritual of New Year’s Resolutions.

Yet, I love good rituals and am a very goal-oriented person.

So, my mix-up for this new year is to take my inspiration from my dog pack.

I believe that if we are observant and tuned-in, animals can teach us much about being in a relationship with ourselves and others. My favorite dog quote is: “I hope to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am.”

In 2025 I am going to let the natural behaviors of my dog pack lead the way to my commitments:

• I will be curious about the world around me.

• I will use my nose (and instincts) to understand situations.

• I will be unconditional in love.

• I will put away any use of judgment.

• I will look deeply into the eyes of those I care deeply about and transmit my good feelings.

• I will be forgiving.

• I will share treats, play, walks, cuddles, and naps.

• I will start each day with a tail wag and enthusiasm.

• I will seek the company of others in my human pack.

And:

• I won’t always use words to show what I am feeling and thinking —there are so many other ways to express oneself.

I am sure that there are other lessons to be learned from my four-footed family. I will be on the lookout for all things positive and productive.

I am ready to turn the calendar page and leap into a new year with the wisdom of my dog pack!

• Whose inspiration is going to inspire your 2025?

• What lessons inspire you?

• What do you think animals can teach us?

May 2025 bring you friendships and lessons, companionship, and meaning!
